g We’ve heard from many mothers of young children, particularly 3 to 6 year-olds, about the difficult time that they have between the hours of 3 p.m. and bedtime. They need to keep their kids busy, but not every mom likes to get down on the floor and help build Legos. But they also want to bond with their child. What could be mutually enjoyable while also productive? “What can I do to bring together education and keep them busy, all the while giving them something to look forward to every day?” asked one Boro Park mother who runs a popular after school program.

The brainstorm resulted in Sensation Play Kits. Now let’s tell you all about these amazing kits! Besides being educational and fun, they help parent and child bond in an easy way. Every week, Sensations sends a new play kit with a new topic to learn about! There’s different activities to do everyday as your child learns about the topic and becomes knowledgeable about the world around them.

Are you always looking for things for your preschooler to do? Are they always telling you that they’re bored? Do you wish the activity could be educational at the same time? The boxes also contain sensory activities that help child developmentally. This box checks off all the “boxes!”

Everyday, they learn about the topic in a new way!

On Monday, they’ll hear a nonfiction book all about the week’s topic! There’s also a craft and a fun sheet.

On Tuesday, they’ll watch a video about the topic and have fun with a DIY Sensory Kit (i.e. making slime or playdough).

On Wednesday, they’ll hear an illustrated story about the topic in a book they’ll love to read or hear over and over again.

On Thursday, there’s a review sheet on the topic to discuss (isn’t it cool to schmooze with your preschooler about the science behind rain?). There’s also a sensory bin related to the topic.

In all, each kit has 12 activities that are educational, enriching, sensory, and all around fun. Since every day of the week is consistent, your child will become accustomed to what they have to look forward to each and every day. The consistency makes it easy to adapt Sensation Play Kits into the daily routine!

Do you have a child with sensory needs or one who is developmentally delayed? Sensation Play Kits have been proven to be beneficial in this area.

Full disclosure: As mothers, we like learning too, so we found the books to be interesting and enlightening. We liked that crafts are easy enough for the kids to do on their own or with minimal help (for most ages). Rather than one big craft (which is hard to throw away), we liked that there are little activities for each day. When we implemented this program, we kept the books (see this post for how we keep thin books organized, so they can be read over and over), but tossed the crafts at the end of the week. The kids had their fun, the learning stayed with them, but we didn’t have to feel guilty about not keeping projects around.
