How to Get Away With Less Ironing

This simple trick can save you from hours of ironing.

Want to know something strange about me? I enjoy doing laundry. When I’m not pressed for time, I find folding laundry relaxing. There’s something so satisfying about watching the neatly folded piles growing.

Know what I really don’t enjoy? Ironing! It’s one of my least favorite chores – by far. So I try to avoid it. And I’ve learned that lots of ironing can be avoided if you just plan for it. Of course, you know that if you take your clothes out of the dryer and fold them right away, they’ll get less wrinkled.

But what about the clothes you don’t put in the dryer?

For starters – choose a lower spin setting on the washing machine. The spin cycle is when most of the wrinkles get pressed into the clothing, so choose a lower one and the wrinkles won’t be as set in.

And this is where that extra low heat option on your dryer is going to help you. Other than your very delicate items (you know the ones that are labeled hand wash only so you wash them on the delicate cycle) and wool clothes, you can place those non-dryable clothes in the dryer for about 3 minutes on the lowest heat setting your dryer has. Remove and hang the clothes right away, smooth with your hand and most of the wrinkles are gone!

This works for tablecloths, tshirts, little girls dresses, etc. and it’s a must for corduroy and velour.

Try it and let us know if it’s a game changer for you like it was for us!
