Because sometimes you really need a no-dish dish.
Sometimes, you have a very specific need when you need to prepare a dish. And sometimes, that need is to make a grownup dish (perhaps it’s a night when the kids are having pizza or pasta) and you can’t think about taking out a real bowl or even the set of measuring spoons.
You’re just not in the mood or can’t handle any additional mess (that’s why the kids are having pizza).
So, if I had one such day, where I chose to measure with soup spoons instead of tablespoons, then I knew that many of you out there probably have such days too. So, this is for those days.
Disclaimer: I am not a big plastic user. My 9x13s are all real. For me, though, soup spoons are always that one thing that I always need around. Because the spoons in the silverware sets are the first thing to get lost and there’s never enough. Kids also go through too many spoons to keep up.
Add a simple side (brown sushi rice in the oven which is loved even when it’s not in sushi, roasted broccoli, salad, whatever…) and this meal is good to go.
Season fish with salt and pepper.
In a plastic bowl, combine brown sugar, mustard, olive oil,
and soy sauce.
Pour over salmon.
Bake for 15-20 minutes,
depending on the size of your fillets.
Plastic Spoon Salmon
Ingredients
- 1 lb salmon fillets
- salt and pepper, for sprinkling
- 2 spoons brown sugar
- 1 spoon Dijon mustard
- 1 spoon olive oil
- 1 spoon soy sauce
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Season fish with salt and pepper.
- In a plastic bowl, combine brown sugar, mustard, olive oil, and soy sauce. Pour over salmon.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, depending on the size of your fillets.
