Ohel’s South Florida division is hosting an upcoming webinar giving you all the information you need to know. Recently moved? This is for you too!

Florida’s always been a top Jewish destination: first for retirees and vacationers, and now for younger people who are seeing all the advantages living in Florida has to offer. And as more and more people have made Florida their home, Florida’s only become a more attractive place to live.

And it really is an amazing place to live! But not everything is the same as it is in the North East. Ohel’s South Florida division coordinator Bracha Rupp moved to Florida 2 years ago. ‘It really is a different climate here. When we first moved here, we found it was a wonderful community, but there was so much that we really didn’t know. We pushed through, and eventually got connected to many helpful resources, but we realized there are families who need help acclimating.

One of Ohel’s main goals is to help build more resilient communities. So after hearing from several families who moved to Florida and really could have benefitted from more information in the transition, Ohel launched a new program in their ‘Reimagining’ community education series to help people moving to Florida- so they can learn about economic and educational resources, as well as help themselves and their children adapt. You can read more about Ohel’s services in our previous round-up here, and hear about their other amazing ‘Reimagining’ webinars here.

Ohel gathered a panel of three experts to give you the low-down on South Florida living, in their upcoming free webinar on September 11th, at 8:00pm.

Here’s who you’ll hear from, and what you can expect to learn!

  1. David Brecher, CEO and Founder FM Home Loans. Mr. Brecher will discuss business opportunities in South Florida and overall information about finances and financial opportunities available in South Florida.
  2. Dr. Jonathan Dobkowski, Psy.D. Dr. Dobkowski is a child psychologist, who will discuss easing your children’s transitions to a new community and new school, warning signs to keep an eye out for, and tips to make leaving your family and friends easier. (Tip: Moving anywhere? Take advantage! This isn’t only Florida-specific.)
  3. Malka Kownat-Rhodes, Director of Government Programs for Teach Florida. Malka will discuss the HB1 Universal School Choice bill (tuition vouchers) and how it impacts the cost of your child’s tuition, special-education services/therapies available, and how to move through the special education process.

If you’re thinking of moving to Florida, or have moved already, this is super valuable information. The more information you have, the more likely you’ll be able to move and integrate into the South Florida community smoothly. Sign up for the upcoming webinar ‘Reimagining Moving to Florida with Children: What You Might Want To Know’ today!
